Peacocks and Other Birds
Tigers rarely prey upon peacocks or other birds. The energy necessary to catch a bird is too great compared to the reward. Tigers may attack a peafowl if the opportunity presents itself, but nearby animals such as deer or monkeys usually raise an alarm. Unlike leopards or other cats, tigers are too heavy to climb trees, so peafowl and other birds can take refuge on a branch until dawn.
