Zoo Hoping For a Love Connection
The new male wolf on the Minnesota Trail, who is nearly two years old, came to Minnesota from Quebec. Although he is still a bit shy and getting used to his new home, the Zoo hopes he will breed with its resident female in the near future. A symbol of strength, wilderness, and family bonds, gray wolves are integral to Minnesota's northern ecosystems. Minnesota packs live in the state's northern forests, although in recent years they have been moving as far south as Lake Mille Lacs.

Spend a romantic evening out! This year's event will again provide a glimpse into the private lives of a variety of animals.

Cold Weather Extremes
Playful sea otters thrive in the frigid waters of the Pacific Ocean among some of the world's richest fisheries. Their habitat includes kelp forests, beds of salt water algae that provide rich habitat for other living things. Sea otters survive the cold and wet with dense fur. They are very active animals and their energy is fueled by large amounts of seafood–in fact, they eat 1/4 of their weight each day! Sea otters are on exhibit daily at Russia's Grizzly Coast.
